AFC Sheldon 2 - 2 Alice Band/Legging Wearers (ABLW win 3-2 on penalties)

DKOS picked up where they left off in 2019 with a win on penalties away to AFC Sheldon.

The result ensured that DKOS made it eleven wins in a row, and maintained a 100% win record this decade.

The contest was feisty from the get go, with both teams ensuring that they left everything out on the pitch.

The home side to the lead, after a free kick evaded everyone in the box and ended up in the far corner.

The first half continued to be evenly contested, with DKOS getting a stronger foothold in the game as time went on.

Their efforts were soon rewarded.

Harry Ellis' pinpoint cross from the left was met at the back post by Sam Ford, who had both the sheer audacity and the quality to shoulder the ball into the far corner.

Despite the hard work, DKOS would go into the break behind.

Sheldon won a soft penalty, which was duly converted.

DKOS came flying out of the traps in the second half, determined to remain in every cup competition.

They secured the Desmond early in the second half.

Roberts' free kick caused all sorts of problems, and Bishop's flick on was headed in bravely at the back post by Gregory, who took a hefty knock for his troubles.

DKOS went close on a few occasions towards the end of the game - Bishop's header off the post being the closest the team came to securing the victory in normal time.

The game went straight to penalties - a situation which DKOS have come accustomed to this season.

Gregory, Diego and Podraza all converted, whilst Sheldon saw one effort hit the bar on its way over, and another sail wide.

In the end Omoigui was able to seal the win, saving low to his left hand side.

No Christmas hangover for DKOS as they carried last years momentum into 2020.

The team remain determined to push on for honours this season, and have left themselves in a good position to do so.
