Despite torrential rain DKOS picked up a third win on the bounce, beating FC Elite Crillen 5-0 at the Streetly Community Centre. The result means that DKOS keep up their record of never losing a home game in the league.
Starting with a full eleven this week, DKOS kicked things into gear early on. Sam Ford was played through on goal down the right channel, and the result was almost inevitable as the ball nestled in the far corner.
DKOS were in total control of the game throughout the first half, and they were able to make their dominance count. Ford found the ball on the right yet again, and after teasing the Crillen full backs he drilled the ball into the far corner.
Not to be upstaged by Francis' goalscoring exploits last week, Ford completed his hat trick before the half was over, poking the ball past the Crillen keeper after another trademark cut in. Diego almost added a fourth before the interval, but he saw his header come back off the crossbar from an Ellis corner.
DKOS switched to all out attack after half time, as the team smelled blood in a relentless pursuit of more goals. Man of the match Harry Ellis swept the ball into the bottom corner, however the goal was controversially ruled out.
Undeterred, DKOS rolled on and were soon rewarded. Some quick thinking and ingenuity saw Joe Burke's quickly taken corner cushioned home by an oncoming Matt Bishop - a goal that wouldn't have looked out of place at Anfield in a Champions League semi final.
Soon after, Willem Raworth's dancing feet guided him into the box, and the confusion created by his cutback saw the ball knocked past the Crillen keeper. If it wasn't for the man in between the sticks the score could've been even greater, as he made fantastic saves to deny Shields and Ben Ford.
The win sees DKOS build up some early season momentum, with this their fourth win from five games so far. A second clean sheet in successive games is just reward for the solid defensive foundations built at the club. The team is confident, and right now they are looking hard to stop.
