Hat Tricks and Shutouts - AFC United 0 - 4 DKOS

DKOS recorded their third win of the season with a comfortable 4-0 win away at AFC United. With eleven men the away side were able to grab all three points whilst keeping a first clean sheet of the season.

DKOS started the game with ten players, as traffic issues prevented the entire team from arriving by kick off. However the one man disadvantage couldn't prevent them from making their mark on the game. A counter attack from an AFC corner saw Joe Burke play through Harry Ellis, and the winger made no mistake as he slotted past the keeper.

With a full eleven finally on the field, DKOS were able to see out the first half, keeping AFC threats to a minimum. After the break, the side started to move up through the gears. After Burke sent the AFC right back to the shops for some milk, he was able to pull the ball back for Reegan Francis, who curled a lovely effort into the top corner for his first goal of the season.

Despite being subjected to what can only be described as a significant aerial presence, the DKOS rearguard capably dealt with any AFC attacks - allowing the forwards to do damage at the other end of the pitch. Francis did just that, grabbing his second of the game after tapping the ball in from close range following a keeper fumble.

Francis completed his hat-trick soon afterwards, with another poacher's effort finding the net via the underside of the crossbar. This was the first hat-trick scored by a DKOS player this season, and the smart money says it won't be the last.

Tempers threatened to boil over towards the end of the game, but Zizzi was able to contain the Castle Vale within before anybody got booked.

This victory is DKOS' third from four games this season as they continue to settle in to the Sutton League. A clean sheet is always a bonus, and gives the team solid foundations to build on. We hope for more of the same next week.
