We've Got a Semi - Beacon 2 - 6 DKOS

DKOS progressed to the semi-finals of the Don Sheldon Cup, producing a season best performance away to Beacon. The home side had tasted defeat just once all season, until DKOS strolled into town.

DKOS stamped their authority on the game early, unfazed by the impressive form of their opponents. Sam Ford went close on a couple of occasions, but his efforts were only just wide of the mark. The young striker wasn't to be denied for much longer, as he found himself one on one with the opposing goalkeeper and calmly slotted the ball home. He bagged a quickfire brace minutes later, somehow managing to dink the ball over the keeper from the tightest of angles.

DKOS were dealt a blow midway through the first half, after Joe Hawkins was taken off with after receiving a gash to the head which was beyond the healing powers of a magic sponge. Beacon took advantage of the tactical reorganisation and pulled a goal back shortly after. The score was desmond by half time, as Beacon equalised from a set piece.

Rather than let their heads drop and allow Beacon's momentum to take over, DKOS dug deep and produced a determined second half performance. At pivotal moments of big games, big players step up and provide for their team. Captain Jamie Gregory did just that after the break, restoring DKOS' lead with a sweetly struck volley from inside the box. Like his strike partner earlier in the game, Gregory grabbed a brace to make it 4-2, putting DKOS back in the driving seat in a fiercely contested quarter final.

This seemed to rattle a Beacon side not used to being bossed on their own turf, as they did their best to kick seven bells out of their opponents. Where it would've been easy to rise to the aggression and let the game descend into an almighty scrap, DKOS kept their composure and played the game the only way they know how - on the front foot.

After getting a second two goal lead in the game, DKOS got clinical rather than comfortable. Ford was able to complete another hat trick for the club, leading to rapturous celebrations from the travelling supporters. There was time to put a cherry on top of the freshly iced cake, as Matt Bishop made it 6-2 from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way.

The lads put in a top quality performance against strong opposition with only twelve men. Who do we have left to fear in the competition?
