Home Fortress - DKOS 6 - 1 Burntwood Bluecoats

DKOS continued their unbeaten run at home in the league on Sunday with a comprehensive 6-1 win against Burntwood Bluecoats. The home side righted their wrongs from last week by putting in a clinical display in front of goal.

After an intense start from DKOS, they were able to make a breakthrough early in the first half. In what was the start of a personal battle between himself and the opposition goalkeeper, Matt Bishop steered the ball into the bottom corner with the outside of his right foot.

Inexplicably, DKOS wouldn't go into the break ahead. Against the run of play, Burntwood drew themselves level after a long throw was turned in by a DKOS head - the only attempt of note on the DKOS goal all match and it didn't even come from the away team.

The Greens entered the second half with a stoic determination to put the game to bed, and they promptly set about doing so. Captain Jamie Gregory restored DKOS' lead after slotting past the keeper with his left foot.

At this point the floodgates started to open. Fresh off of his first goal for the club last week, Willem Raworth made it two in two after converting Ellis' corner on the volley into the bottom corner. He broke out the knee slide once again on his way to a man of the match performance.

3-1 became 4-1 soon after. Bishop controlled a goal kick and released Dines, who raced onto the ball and lashed it into the bottom corner before the keeper even had a chance to react.

With a comfortable lead and the game won, DKOS started to have a little fun on the pitch. Every player on the team wanted a touch of the ball as Burntwood tired, and the home side were able to see out the rest of the game with swagger.

The scoring wasn't finished there. Diego made it 5-1 as he headed home from a corner, and the acrobatic celebration he produced would've left half of the team paralyzed if they had attempted it.

Bishop's second put the icing on the cake. The midfielder curled a superb free kick into the top corner, making it 6-1 and completing Burntwood's miserable afternoon.

The result put DKOS second in the table for the time being, as they rediscovered their best form just in time for Christmas. With one game left to go in 2018, here's hoping the boys can make it a merry Christmas with a victory!
