Bouncing Back - Burntwood Victoria 1 - 6 DKOS

Business as usual was resumed on Sunday morning as DKOS ran out 1 - 6 winners away from home against Burntwood Victoria. The boys carried on their impressive form in the league which has seen them taste defeat just once all season.

DKOS started the game positively and were on top of their hosts, looking dangerous with every forward attack. However Burntwood struck the first blow against the run of play. The number 9 turned on the edge of the box and fired a good strike past Omoigui's despairing dive.

Said number 9 was determined to be the star of the show, and tried to cause trouble soon after. Why anybody would choose to pick a fight with centre half Alex Diego is beyond any of us, but this chopsy little bastard backed himself for some reason. Luckily for him, his teammates were able to drag him away for his own protection.

Diego responded to the altercation in the best possible way. Brennan's free kick was floated into the box, and Diego saw his header blocked. But the DKOS centre back had the tenacity, the presence of mind, and most importantly the ability to stab the rebound past the keeper and get the away side back on level terms.

The tide of the game started to swing DKOS' way after half time, as their half time substitutes had a big impact on the game. Not long after kick off the Burntwood keeper and centre half tried to play out from the back from a goal kick, which turned out to be a big mistake around a fresh Jacob Roberts. The sixth Weasley child won the ball and squared for Gregory, who slotted the ball away in the bottom corner.

DKOS' third came soon after. Another fast attack saw the ball break to Roberts on the edge of the box, and his volley - which had more slice on it than a loaf of Hovis - looped over a very tall Burntwood keeper.

DKOS were in the ascendancy and showed absolutely no signs of slowing down. Roberts grabbed his second of the game to cap off an impressive second half performance, finishing past the keeper from inside the box.

By this point DKOS had kicked into top gear and looked like scoring with every attack. As Gregory raced down the left wing and squared the ball into the box, a loud cry of 'JAMIE THAT'S FUCKING SHIT' could be heard, and to the surprise of nobody on the team it came from Gregory himself. Amid a chorus of laughter, the ball fell to Hawkins on the edge of the box, and his finish into the bottom corner left the goalkeeper stranded.

There was still time for DKOS to put yet more gloss on the scoreline. After collecting the ball from a corner, Omoigui spotted the run Ellis was making across the halfway line. With Ederson-like precision, the ball was dropped just over the top of the Burntwood centre backs, and Ellis was able to race through and score his first goal of the season - a well deserved one at that.

Burntwood were unable to trouble the DKOS defence in the second half, as Hughes and co defended resolutely. The home side's only chance came as their substitute striker poked the ball past Omoigui, but Bo McGrail was on hand to clear the ball off the line. DKOS almost added a seventh, but Madden's effort was scrambled off the line.

In a professional and commanding performance, DKOS resumed their impressive form in the league. With composure, boundless energy and a cutting edge, DKOS showed just how good they can be and put Burntwood Victoria to the sword. The smart money says this won't be the last team they tear apart this season.
